3. Answer the following questions:
a. Define the term computer hardware.

Ans: Computer hardware are the physical parts of computer, which make up complete computer system. Hardware are those parts of computer system, which can be touched or felt physically. Eg. Keyboard, mouse scanner, System Unit etc

b. What are input devices? List any two input devices.

Ans: The devices that are used to enter data and instructions into the computer are called input devices. Eg. Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner, Web camera, Joystick etc
c. What is processing devices? Write the name of processing devices.

Ans: The device which are used to process raw data according to set of instructions are called processing devices. Eg. CPU

d. What are output devices? Name any two common output devices.

Ans: The devices that are used to give output from the computer are called output devices. Eg. Monitor, Printer, Plotters, Speaker etc.
e. Differentiate between soft copy output and hard copy output.

Ans: The different between Soft-copy and hard-copy output are given below.

Soft-copy output	Hard-copy output
a. Softcopy is an electronic display of digital information, such as files viewed on the computer screen	a. Hardcopy output is  mostly a printed version of information normally printed on the paper

f. What are storage hardware? Write two such devices.

Ans: The devices that are used to store data and program in the computer is called storage device. eg RAM, Hard disk etc.
g. What is primary memory? What are its types.
Ans: The primary memory is  the main memory or internal memory of the computer where data and instruction are stored while executing the program.
Types of primary memory are :RAM and ROM
h. What are the difference between RAM and ROM?
Ans: The difference between RAM and ROM are given below.

a. It stand for Read only memory.	a. It stand for Random Access Memory
b. It is non volatile or permanent memory.	b. It is volatile or temporary memory.
c. It is startup memory of a computer	b. It is working memory of computer.

i. What is CPU? List its major parts.
Ans: CPU also called microprocessor is a main processing device of the computer. It is also considered as brain of the computer. The major parts of CPU are : Control Unit, Arithmetic logic unit and Registers.
j. Write short notes on the following:
I) Keyboard 
   Keyboard is the basic and fundamental input device of a computer. There are many keys on the keyboard by pressing these keys we can give command to the computer.
 II) Control unit
Control unit is the main parts of the CPU. It is used to control and manage all the activities of the computer system.
III) Printer
   Printer is the basic output device that is used to print the output on the paper so the output given by the printer is known as hard copy output. eg. Dot Matrix printer, Laser printer, Inkjet printer.
