Class 4 | Chapter 4 | Processing device

Processing device
Answer the following questions:
a) What is meant by processing?
Ans: Computer convert the input data into meaningful information is called processing.
b) Write the main processing unit of computer?
Ans: Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the main processing unit of computer.
c) Name the different types of CPU?
Ans: The different types of CPU are: Intel celeron, Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Duel Core, Intel Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, Core i9 etc.
d) What are the functions of CPU?
Ans: The main functions of CPU are:
i) It manages all the resources of the computer.
ii) It executes programs instructions.
iii) It makes decisions.
iv) It performs calculations.
e) What are the main components of CPU?
Ans: The main component of CPU are:
i) Control Unit (CU)
ii) Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU)
iii) Main Memory
f) What is the main memory?
Ans: Main memory also called primary memory or internal memory is used to store program and data during the processing which is fixed on the motherboard.
g. What is RAM?
Ans: RAM is the computer's working memory it is used to store data during processing. RAM is temporary or volatile memory the data stored in it gets erased when we switch off the computer.
h. Why is RAM called volatile memory?
Ans: RAM is called volatile memory because the data stored in it gets erased when we switch off the computer.
i) What is ROM?
Ans: ROM is a read-only memory of the computer we can only read data from it. It is a start-up memory of the computer. The data and instructions are stored at the time of manufacture. It's data are not lost even if the computer is switch off.
j. Why is ROM Called non-volatile memory.
Ans: ROM is called non-volatile memory because the data and instructions are not lost even if the computer is switch off.

Read the clues and write who am I?
a) I am electronic brain of computer. CPU
b) I am the part of CPU, you can perform the calculation. ALU
c) I am permanent memory of computer. ROM
d) I am non-volatile memory and can store data permanently. ROM
