Write very short answers to the following questions.

a. What type of program is excel 2010?
Ans: Excel 2010 is a spreadsheet program.
b. In which tab can we click to save the excel workbook?
Ans: We have to click on the file tab to save excel workbook.
c. What is the name of the bar which is located at the top of the excel worksheet?
Ans: The name of the bar which is located at the top of the excel worksheet is the title bar.
d. Name various view buttons.
Ans: Names of different view buttons are: Normal Layout view, Page Layout view, and Page break view.
e. How many default sheets are available in the excel workbook?
Ans: There are three default sheets available in the excel workbook.
f. What is the name of the last column in excel 2010?
Ans: XFD is the name of the last column in excel 2010.
g. In which cell reference can we use the dollar ($) sign?
Ans: We use the dollar ($) sign in the Absolute cell reference.
h. Name any two arithmetic operators.
Ans: Two arithmetic operators are: Addition (+) and Subtraction (-).
i. Which function is used to find the maximum value in the specified cell?
Ans: MAX function is used to find the maximum value in the specified cell.

a. What is MS-Excel? Define its features.
Ans: MS-Excel is a spreadsheet program that provides a grid interface to enter or organize the various data or information. 
Features of Excel:

b. What is a design template? Explain in short.
Ans: A design template is a predesigned spreadsheet where you can use choose a blank template and customize it according to your requirement.  
c. What do you mean by data sorting? Write its importance in excel.
Ans: Data sorting is an important feature of MS-Excel. It helps you to organize data into meaning order like alphabetical order A to Z or Z to A, a numerical value from larger to smaller or smaller to larger. 
d. What is cell reference? For what can we use it?
Ans: Cell reference refers to a particular cell or range of cells in a worksheet. Cell references are useful in excel to identify the data that should be used in formulas to calculate results.
e. Explain the types of cell references.
Ans: The different types of cell references are:
i) Relative cell reference: It is a common cell reference in excel which is followed by the column letter and row number Eg. A1, B5, C9 etc.
ii) Absolute cell reference: An absolute cell reference is a cell address that contains a dollar sign ($) in the row or column coordinate or both. Eg. $B$9 $C$9 etc.
iii) Mixed cell reference: Mixed cell reference is either an absolute column and relative row or an absolute row and relative column. Eg. A$1 or $A1.
f. What is a function? Name any six excel functions.
Ans: Functions are predefined formulas and are already available in Excel. Some examples of functions in excel are:
SUM function
MIN function
MAX function
AVERAGE function
PRODUCT function
IF function 
g. What are the parts of function? List out some common excel functions.
Ans: Function has three parts Equal sign, Function name, and Argument. Eg: SUM(A1:A15)
