1. Answer the following questions.
a. What is computer hardware? List any four computer hardware.
Ans: All the tangible or physical components or parts that you can see and touch are called computer hardware. eg. Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, printer, Speaker, scanner etc. 
b. What is an input device? List any four input devices.
Ans: Any computer devices that are used to enter data and instructions into the computer are called input devices. Eg. Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner, touchpad, etc. 
c. Why is a computer mouse called a pointer device? 
Ans: When a mouse is moved on the mouse pad, the mouse pointer also moves on the screen and points to the instructions seen on the monitor so it is also called a pointing device.
d. What is a scanner? What does it look like?
Ans:  Scanner is another type of input device that is used to input images, printed text, drawings, handwritings, etc into a computer. It looks like a flat tray with a glass pane. 
e. List any two differences between the digital camera and web camera.
Ans: The differences between the digital camera and web camera are:

1. Digital camera is used to take photos and videos anywhere at any time.

1. Web cameras are used to take photos and videos while chatting and video conference.

2. It used a flash card or memory card to store photos and videos

2. It does not have the memory it used to broadcast directly or can be stored on a computer.

f. What is a microphone? What is the use of a microphone? 
Ans: A microphone is an audio input device that is used to input voice or sound into a computer. It is very popular for voice chatting over the internet.
g. What is an output device? List any four output devices.
Ans: The devices that are used for displaying or presenting information on a computer are known as output devices. eg. Monitor, Speaker, Printer, Plotter
h. What is a monitor? List its different types.
Ans: A monitor is a softcopy output device also called Video Display Terminal that displays the data, instructions, and result of processing or information. It looks like television. There are three types of monitors: a) Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Monitor, b) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) Monitor, and c) Light Emitting Diode (LED) monitor.
i. What is a printer? List its different types.
Ans: A printer is a commonly used hardcopy output device that provides data, text, and other results in a permanently readable form on a sheet of paper. There are two types of printers Impact printers and Non-impact printers.
j. List any two differences between impact printer and non-impact printer.

1. Impact printer includes all printers that work by striking on ink ribbon.

1. Non-impact printers include all printers that work on laser beam or bubblejet technology. 
2. It makes more noise and has low printing quality. 2. It makes less noise and has high printing quality. 
k. What is a plotter?
Ans: A plotter is also a hardcopy output device that is used to print high-quality drawings, charts, and graphics in large sizes. It is also used to print large size of images, posters, and maps.
