a. What is secondary memory?

Ans: Secondary memory is an external memory of a computer that holds data and programs permanently till they are not deleted.
b. What are the two types of magnetic disks?

Ans: The two types of magnetic disks are Hard disks and zip disks.
c. What is a hard disk?

Ans: Hard disk is the most common storage device of a computer which can store a large amount of data, information, files, and programs permanently. 
d. What are platters? 

Ans: A hard disk is made up of a stack of circular metallic plates coated with iron oxide on both sides called platters.
e. Mention the advantages of a hard disk over an optical disk.

Ans: Hard disk can store a large amount of data than an optical disk and the data stored in a hard disk is more durable compared to an optical disk.
f. What is an optical disk? List its type.

Ans: An optical disk is a small thin circular disk of plastic coated with highly reflected material where data and programs are stored. Blue-ray disks and DVDs are examples of optical disks.
g. For what purposes Blu-ray disc is specially used? 

Ans: Blue-Ray disk is specially used to distribute multimedia applications, videos, songs, software, and games. 

h. What is a pen drive? Why is it named pen drive?

Ans: A Pen drive is the most popular USB mass storage device. It is small in size with large storage capacities of up to 128 GB. It can be carried in a pocket like a pen so it is called a pen drive.  
i. Where is the memory card used? Write any two devices.

Ans: Memory card is used in a digital camera, and mobile phone.
